Julie Lindsay was a cohort leader at the Learning 2.011 Conference held in Kangqiao, Pudong, Shanghai, China September 8- 10, 2011.  She led the cohort entitled, Digital Citizenship and Global Collaboration, in which participants discussed the attributes of good digital citizenship, including ethical and social dilemmas faced by the next generation of global citizens.

Julie recently presented at the ISTE Conference 2011 (International Society for Technology in Education) held in Philadelphia, PA, USA.  She presented a workshop entitled, Digiteacher Workshop: Digital Citizenship within a Project-Based Learning Environment, one entitled, Flat Classroom Projects: Collaborate with the World Now!, and one entitled Flat Classrooms: Connect, Collaborate, Change.

Julie Lindsay
, current E-Learning Coordinator at Beijing (BISS) International School, China, is an enthusiastic, global-minded education leader and innovator. Originally from Melbourne, Australia over the past 10 years she has been teaching and leading the use of technology in schools in Zambia, Kuwait, Bangladesh, Qatar and now China. Her wealth of diverse work experience is complemented by Masters of Arts degrees from La Trobe University in Melbourne and George Washington University in Washington, DC.  She is also co-winner with Vicki Davis of ISTE's SIGTEL's Online Learning Award 2007 and Taking IT Global Best Online Learning Project 2007 for the Flat Classroom®Project.

Julie has presented How Flat is Your Classroom?, Mobile, Digital, Ubiquitous and Digiteen, Digiteacher  at Learning 2.008, in September 2008, a conference held annually in Shanghai, China.  In 2008, she presented at the ISTE Leadership Symposium, Birds of a Feather, the International presentations, NETS Connect, and delivered an ISTE SIGTel Workshop entitled, "We Teach the World: The Global Collaborative Classroom" at the National Educational Computing Conference convened by the International Society for Technology in Education held inSan Antonio. She has presented at One-to-One Computing and Global Projects Dubai in March 2008 - GETEX and ISTE, Global Forum on Technology and Innovation in Education. In March 2008, she co-presented an Elluminate Webinar entitled Connecting Students Worldwide with Web 2.0 and the Flat Classroom and she presented at the ECIS/ISTE Leadership Conference in Prague, January 2008, a session entitled, Personal Learning Networks.

In 2010, Julie was an organizer of the Global Education Conference, held online in November and involving 370 sessions from 62 countries around the world.  She presented numerous times at K12Online. In 2010, she co-presented a session with Kim Cofino entitled, Create the Future, and she co-presented with Madeleine Brookes a session entitled, Inside ITGS: Cyber-Students Share their Connected Learning.  In 2009, she presented, Learning Confluence: Where Philosophy Meets Practice in the 21st Century at the K12Online Conference.  

Julie is recognized worldwide for her innovative programs using a wide array of Web 2.0 tools to transform learning for the emerging digital, "world-is-flat" educational landscape. From ubiquitous mobile technology programs to the Flat Classroom Project Julie brings front line experiences to share with teachers, school leaders and policy makers alike. Julie is a frequent presenter on the world stage, she is a tireless volunteer leader for professional associations, and she is an inspiration to colleagues and collaborators demonstrating just how different world-class education will be in this 21st Century. _ Vicki Davis keynoted the 12th Annual Alabama Educational Technology Association (AETA) Fall Symposium – Capturing the Magic of Technology & Learning – October 2-5, 2011 in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Vicki Davis presented, “Fantastic Tools for Schools” at the Georgia Independent School Association at the Mount Paran Christian School in Kennesaw, Georgia, USA on Monday, November 7, 2011.  Her session was entitled, “50 Ways to Improve Your Classroom NOW with Technology.”

In late July 2011, Vicki attended the Microsoft Innovative Education Forum, held in Redmond, Washington, USA, where she served as a judge of the international competition.

Earlier in the month, author Vicki Davis was interviewed by the Voice of Russia about Flat Classroom® Projects at http://english.ruvr.ru/2011/07​/25/53695347.html   Kim Brown, of VOR, describes a method of instruction called Flat Classroom® which is gaining traction around the country.  Vicki Davis, a co-founder of Flat Classroom® Projects and co-author of the book Flattening Classrooms, Engaging Minds: Move to Global Collaboration One Step at a Time, which is due out in August.

Vicki Davis is a teacher and the IT director at Westwood Schools in Camilla, Georgia. Vicki co-created four award winning international wiki-centric projects, the Flat Classroom®
Project, the NetGenEd™ Project, the Eracism Project™, the Horizon project, and Digiteen™ with teacher Julie Lindsay, currently in Bejing.

These projects have linked more than 3200 students from both public and private schools in nineteen countries since 2006. These collaborative projects harness the most powerful technology tools available while operating on minimal budgets. Vicki has been featured in various media sources including Thomas Friedman's book, The World is Flat, Don Tapscott's Grown Up Digital, the Wall Street Journal, and the Boston Globe.

She was on the Tuesday keynote panel presentation at the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference 2011 entitled, Five Facing Forward: Forecasting Futures along with Steve Hargadon and Joyce Valenza.  Vicki presented Differentiated Instruction and Assessment with Technology in a presentation following the keynote panel at the conference. Vicki blogs at the Cool Cat Teacher blog which won the 2008 Edublog Award for Best Teacher Blog, was second runner up for the Best Teacher Blog in 2009, and was nominated for the same award in 2010. She was named a pioneer in Open Source Virtual World Technology in October 2009. Vicki is a Google Certified Teacher and Discovery S.T.A.R. Educator. She lives in Camilla, Georgia with her husband and three children.
